This hike starts off in forest and climbs steadily. The trail is in good shape. You will top out after two miles and contour over to a road system. In this area, rhodedendrons are plentiful and should be gorgeous in May to June. Pop out onto the road and take note where you are for the return. It is flagged. Turn right onto the road. You will be on the road for about 1.5 miles. There are a few peekaboo views. You will come to an intersection with a road to the right. It is gated and says something about not entering, but people do. Just be respectful. This road is a bit steep but has some fabulous views of the bay and surrounding mountains. At the first building, head left uphill steeply to the next building. Behind it is a bootpath to some rocks with outstanding views. You will not find many people here. Ending stats: 9.6 miles 2880 elevation gain
