I was always successful academically but was not really aware of which path to take to utilize the strengths I had been given.
I couldn't yet see the gifts I had when I first entered university. I changed my mind about my career many times. I eventually
found I had a phenomenal memory for languages and a facility for teaching myself how to speak them. I lived in three different
countries for a year each vastly improving my language abilities. I found it easy to fit into other cultures leading to my
discovery that international education was the best niche for my talents. In addition, I began to realize I was a planner
and that organizing events and activities was a gift. Even my high school friends used to say nothing would get done if I
didn't do it. That led to my planning over 600 events just with outdoor groups and many other social activities as well.
My future goal is to run some outdoor language camps or yoga, forest therapy, and outdoor activity retreats or host international groups and teach outdoor skills to them. My husband and I may also create some hiker help websites as part of our "retirement".
